1:50 Scale Model MAN TGX 6x4 tractor with NOOTEBOOM OVB-102-06 6-axle Ballast Trailer

Presented here is the 1:50th scale MAN TGX prime mover with Nooteboom OVB-102-06 6-axle ballast trailer, container and counterweight load in Mammoet livery from WSI.
This is a very highly detailed model as is expected from WSI who are producing some stunning heavy haulage replicas. The addition of six counterweight sections from the Mammoet PCT model is a very welcomed touch and they look great nestling on the deck of the trailer.
The Nooteboom ballast trailer has six axles with the rear four having a linked steering system to allow the trailer to be manouvered easier. Each axle is connected with a pivoting suspension arm and has two tyres on each wheel hub to transfer the load.
The rear axle of the trailer is connected to a frame housing the light bar, number plate and warning beacon and this frame turns as the axle turns. The lenses on the light bar are coloured, semi-transparent plastic and the number plate has an authentic registration printed on it.
The container supplied in the box fits neatly on the front of the trailer and houses a diamond plate textured roof panel and small window with the prominent Mammoet markings printed on the sides. There are also a number of metal rods supplied with the model which push into the holes on the trailer deck. 4 extra rods are supplied in case the collector does not want to fit the container.
The trailer sports a fold down door where a spare tyre is located. The tyre is fitted to a silver wheel and can be removed from the housing for added realism.
The sides of the housing have integrated access ladders leading to the deck of the trailer which features a simulated wooden deck.
The trailer jack legs can be lowered by rotating them and the screw thread has been hidden within which is a nice touch.
The rear of the tractor has a large tank and very realsitic looking coiled service lines.
The front of the trailer has a moulded area where the lines would connect but it is not easy to make them stay in place.
Another nice touch on the trailer are the open holes along the sides where D-rings are modelled and highlighted with silver paint to give a very realistic appeal to the model. Amber side lights have also been painted on the sides of the trailer.
The MAN TGX tractor is very nicely constructed with photo-etched access steps, diamond plate floor panels and a realistic cast fifth wheel. The wheels have intricate silver rims with accurately moulded road tread tyres and red painted wheel hubs which look great.
While the counterweight load and container are a very nice touch, the model looks even better with the addition of a load block or two (Hook block borrowed from the Liebherr LG1750).
The model is securely packaged in a polystyrene carton with clear plastic moulded front, surrounded by a printed cardboard box with a clear open front. This is another great addition to the ever expanding Mammoet model range.
